"Behave yourself," Bill called to Eric.
Eric rolled his eyes and looked around.
"Don't I always?" He called back to Bill.
Back in the kitchen, Dawn Stackhouse froze. She knew that voice. She walked out, wiping her hands on her apron.
"Eric?" She said softly.
Pam and Eric turned as one, to see the tall Dawn Stackhouse standing there, looking at Eric in confusion. Lafayette, Jason, and Tara stared wide-eyed at what happened next. In the blink of an eye, Eric was in front of Dawn.
"Eric..." Dawn whispered his name like an answer/prayer.
Eric just stared down at her. Even though she was a quart inch from being six foot tall, Eric was still half a foot taller. Sookie walked in from outside, wondering what was taking so long. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Eric so close to her little sister. She watched as Dawn put a hand on Eric's chest, but not to push him away. Eric lifted a hand and gently brushed his knuckles over her cheek.
"You have grown," He spoke softly.
Dawn chuckled softly, smiling.
"I grew almost 9 inches in three years, Eric," She smirked, "now I don't need to stand on my tiptoes to kiss you."
Eric chuckled, for once not scaring people. Even the most adamant of vampire haters were thinking how sweet they were. Bill and Sam walked out of the office just in time to see Eric leaning down, brushing his lips across Dawn's ever so softly.
"I'll be at Sam's until I can get a place," She whispered to Eric, "there is something I want you to see when you come back."
Eric stole another kiss from Dawn before he, Pam, Bill and Sookie left the bar. Lafayette directed a distracted Dawn back into the kitchen. Dawn shucked her apron and handed it to Lafayette.
"I have to go check on Aude," She told him.
Lafayette shook his head, but said nothing as she went out the back.
It was three days before Eric could even come back to Shrevesport, let alone being able to zip over to Bon Temps. It was a day after getting back to Shrevesport that Eric was finally able to go. When he did get there, he heard giggling coming from outside the trailer in the back. A ball rolled to his feet. Eric lifted his head, seeing a petite blur coming after the ball. Aude was glad she caught up with the ball. She picked it up and looked up at the man the ball stopped in front of. Eric stared at the little girl with wide eyes. Aude looked back toward the trailer.
"Mommy!" She called, "Daddy's here!"
Dawn came jogging over, squealing happily when she saw Eric. She picked up Aude and settled her on her hip. Dawn took the ball and tossed it toward the dog, a puppy that Sam got Aude, that Aude named after her father's sire, Godric. The puppy played with the ball, butting it with his head. Aude reached her arms out toward Eric and he took her, holding her carefully. Then Eric looked to Dawn.
"Told you that I wanted to show you something," She smiled, tucking a lock of Aude's pale golden hair behind her ear, "she's beautiful, isn't she?"
Eric looked at the little girl in his arms, his daughter, who only smiled brightly back at him. Eric smiled. Aude looked just like his mother, her eyes were just a bit darker than that.
"She is," He admitted, speaking softly.
Aude just smiled at her daddy and wrapped her arms around his neck, laying her head on his shoulder and yawning. Dawn tucked Aude's hair back and sighed.
"Take Ric and Aude to the trailer," She asked of Eric, "I'll go tell Sam I'm putting her to bed. I'll see if Terry will stay with her tonight."
Eric raised a brow at her, looking rather amused.
"Ric?" He chuckled.
"So our daughter named her puppy after your Sire," She rolled her eyes and poked him in the chest.
Eric put an arm around Dawn and pulled her close, kissing her softly before walking toward the trailer. The puppy followed after him, bringing the ball along with him, nudging it along. Dawn walked into Merlotte's with a smile on her face.
"Hey, Sam?" She called, the shifter poking his head up from behind the bar, "I'm going to put Aude to bed, okay?"
Sam nodded, "Sure, D.A."
Dawn looked over to Terry Bellefluer.
"Hey, Terry, doll," She chuckled, "Will you stay with Aude tonight?"
Terry looked at her in confusion.
"Sure...why?"
Dawn smirked, "Her daddy's in town and I intend on getting lucky," She wagged her brows, making Terry laugh.
"Terry's coming," Dawn said softly, watching Eric move feather soft hair from the sleeping Aude's forehead.
When Eric looked up at her, Dawn saw the blood tears down Eric's cheeks. He stood and walked over to her.
"You named her...Aude?" His voice sounded cracked.
Dawn sighed, taking Eric's hand. She walked him over to the sink, then proceeded to clean the dried blood tears from his face with a warm wash cloth.
"I remembered when you told me of your wife," She admitted, "so I looked up the name. I looked up the history," Dawn gently wiped the wash cloth over his cheek, "I liked the name," then she smiled, "people call her Awe sometimes. Not cause they can't saw her name. She's just awe inspiring to them."
When she finished, she kissed his chin and set the cloth in the sink, running warm water and squeezing it to get the blood out. When the water no longer ran pink, she turned it off and set the cloth aside. She turned and faced Eric, her back against the sink. Dawn cocked her head and tilted it back.
"I closed the club for a while," Eric said conversationally, then stole a kiss.
"Renovations?" Dawn asked, smiling against his lips.
"Yes."
"Like?"
Eric chuckled deeply against her lips, stealing a kiss before he spoke.
"I was going to add another throne next to mine," He admitted, then imitated a tone she'd taken once, after they'd made love, "it just wouldn't do to not have my mate with me."
Dawn chuckled, then looked at him with a trim brow raised.
"And what about Aude?" She smiled.
"She can either sit on my knee or Pam can hold her," He shrugged, grunting when she thumped him in the chest, "violent woman."
Dawn laughed, then kissed Eric softly.
"You love it and you know it."
Dawn had slipped his cellphone out of his pocket before he could stop her. Eric rolled his eyes and dialed Pam.
"What?" Pam didn't sound all too happy.
"Get to Merlotte's, I want you to meet someone."
He hung up, stashing the phone in his pocket. Dawn wrapped her arms around Eric's waist and looked up at him. A few minutes later found a knock on the trailer door, Eric answered, knowing it was Pam.
"There was someone you wanted me to meet?" She sighed, her tone bored.
Dawn laughed, "Let me get her. Then I'll hand her back to Terry."
Eric nodded and watched Dawn as she disappeared into Sam's room. Pam's eyes widened as she came out, a sleepy little girl in her arms. Dawn stopped in front of Pam and Aude lifted her head.
"Baby," Dawn said softly, "this is Pam."
Aude waved, then looked to her mother.
"Did Daddy make her?" She asked, when Dawn nodded, she smiled and asked Pam, "does that make you my big sissy?"
Pam's eyes flicked to Eric when she heard her Sire laughing. Aude turned her head to her father and frowned.
"Daddy behave," She said, in as stern a tone a child could take, before turning back to Pam and waiting expectantly for her answer.
